Committee

Tilehouse Street Pre-school and Nursery is a charity, and managed by a committee of parent and community volunteers who are the trustees of the charity.

The Trustees are elected in September and receive training in safeguarding and the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage and meet regularly to oversee the smooth running and development of the setting and its provision.  Many trustees serve for more than one year.

As well as looking after the management of the Pre-school and Nursery, they also collect feedback, raise funds and carry out marketing and publicity for the setting.

If you are interested in finding out more about the work of the trustees, please speak to the setting Manager.

Phil Earl

“I’m Phil and I’m the Chair of Trustees.  I’m dad to three boys, two of whom have gone through Tilehouse and the third is coming in September.  I joined the committee in 2015 because I wanted to get more involved with my children’s education.  Commuting to a full-time job in London means I’m not normally around much during the day, so being a trustee has given me an opportunity to support the setting in a different way.  During the last 5 years I’ve learnt a huge amount about Early Years education, and running a small business.  It’s great fun – and rarely predictable!”

Clare Day
My name is Claire Day.  I am a retired School Admissions Registrar and Headmaster’s PA.
I became a Trustee because I am interested in being involved in the  running of the nursery.  Two of my grandchildren attended last year and this year, and my son attended in the early 1990s.
Claire Clarson
I’m Claire, the current Secretary and joint Treasurer. I’m a Chartered Accountant who usually, works in Tech companies, but I am currently on a career break to spend more time with my children. I became a Trustee when my daughter started in the Caterpillar room. I wanted to use my skills to support the Nursery, get involved in the events and activities that take place for fundraising and socials, and understand more about the EYFS and my daughters education.
